Norwegian Pakistani Cricket team “Eagles”” won Norwegian Premier League (NPL) tournaments held in Oslo, the capital.
The week long tournaments was concluded at Eke Burg sport ground of Oslo, the capital city last weekend.
This is for the second time, Eagles won the championship as it won NPL last year. The final match on Sunday was between Eagles and Knight Riders in which Eagles made 250 runes but Knight Riders could not achieved even 200 runes.
Some of players of Pakistani national cricket team namely Abdu Razaq, Misbah ul Haque, Tofeeq Umer and Umer Gul also participated in the matches on behalf different Norwegian teams.
The famous Norwegian Pakistan cricket players are shahbaz Butt, Raza Ali and Sufian Ali. Another Norwegian team “Sultan” also showed its excellent role in the tournaments.
Shoab Akhtar and Imran Nazeer were also present on the occasion. A graceful ceremony was held at conclusion of the tournaments in Oslo where Pakistan’s Ambassador to Norway Ms Riffat Masood took part as a Chief guest.
Pakistani players also visited nearby Drammen city where Dupty Mayor Syed Yousaf Gilani received the players warmly. Local businessmen Shahid Malik and Ch Tahir hosted a reception in their honour.
Cricket in Norway was introduced
by the Pakistanis who were migrated as guest workers to this Nordic country in 1970s and 1980s. Today, most of Norwegian cricket teams are comprising children of these Norwegian Pakistanis.
